Cupid's Bo App Design
CUPID'S BO

Experimenting with features and functionality

Cupid’s Bo is a cosmetic company that specializes in lipsticks and lip liners. This concept was created by Justine, to explore different features and functionality that are consistently present on makeup and fashion websites. This project included the design of a logo, in-store card, icons and mobile app.

What makes the Cupid’s Bo app unique is that it provides customers with the ability to view lipstick pairings with the latest in fashion trends.

Justine chose the name Cupid’s Bo which comes from the facial feature of a human upper lip, and is said to resemble the bow of Cupid. The ‘B’ in Cupid’s Bo was formed to look like the bow, and the profile of a mouth pouting.

Design

Unique Features

The app would allow users to make purchases, view makeup tutorial videos, and pair lipsticks with the latest in fashion trends.

A unique feature of the app is the trends page, on this page users are provided with inspiration on fashion trends that would pair well with a lip colour. Justine also considered users who shop in-store by creating a card to test different lip colours.

The navigation was kept simple with a bottom tab bar allowing users to easily interact with the application. The hamburger icon opens a left side tray menu that provides users with primary and secondary categories. ‘Shop’ is indicated by a lipstick icon; ‘Tutorials’ by a play icon; ‘Trends’ by a shoe icon: showcasing the latest in makeup and fashion; and ‘Kisses’ (likes) by a lip icon. On click of all primary categories a user would be taken to the corresponding intermediary page, displaying all secondary categories in a visual manner.
